25th June
Rotary Club Of Murray Bridge
Changeover Dinner

A Great Rotary Fun night at the Cameo Theatre in Murray Bridge to see The DUKE as a fundraiser for the Polio Plus Program through the Rotary Foundation organised by the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge. Director Lyn Sickerdick and her team organised finger food and drinks for 6pm at the Theatre. In 1961, a 60 year old taxi driver "steals" Goya's portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London. He sends ransom notes saying that he will return the painting if the government invests more in care for the elderly. Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren play their characters brilliantly in a polished performance. The enjoyable night finished off with a major raffle for the audience with heaps of prizes for which we thank the local supporters.

Thank you for being a member of Rotary! Did you know that The Rotary Foundation is making a difference by funding projects around the world and in your own community? These projects are made possible when our members donate to any of our Annual Fund designations, and we need your support.

Every day, Rotary members respond to challenges big and small, emerging and ongoing. And when members like you participate through service or with a donation to our Foundation, we make an even bigger impact.

What can a donation to The Rotary Foundation accomplish?
Help refugees. Rotary supports refugees around the world, providing humanitarian aid to people affected by the war in Ukraine, helping new arrivals in South Korea integrate into society, and giving shelter to families fleeing conflict in Syria.

Provide clean water. Rotary clubs are working together and with local communities on projects such as constructing wells in rural Ethiopia and supporting peace by providing clean water in Papua New Guinea.
Grow local economies. In the United States, Rotary members are working with adults with developmental disabilities on a vocational training project and with people on the Navajo Nation to install solar lights.

Prevent and treat disease. Rotary clubs are promoting healthy communities by helping with COVID-19 vaccination efforts in Italy, by working to reduce the incidence of malaria in Zambia, and by continuing to focus on ending polio.
Please donate online or send your contribution by mail to The Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund-SHARE or one of our Annual Fund's areas of focus. Your gift will support projects like these and make Doing Good in the World possible.

Object of Rotary

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

  • FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
  • SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
  • THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;
  • FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

End Polio Now

In 1985 Rotary launched PolioPlus to immunize every child in the world against polio. Working with our partners and members of the global health community, together we will end polio.
Through the science of vaccines, Rotary & partners have saved nearly 19 million children from becoming paralyzed by polio. Learn more about our work to End Polio Now and how you can get involved: https://on.rotary.org/3eqtrrr

Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years, and we’ve made incredible progress in the fight to rid the world of it forever.

As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, we've helped to reduced polio cases by more than 99.9 percent.

It’s crucial to eradicate polio from the last two countries where it remains endemic and to keep other countries polio-free.

If all eradication efforts stopped today, within 10 years, polio could paralyze as many as 200,000 children each year.

What is polio?

Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a paralyzing and potentially deadly infectious disease that most commonly affects children under the age of 5. The virus spreads from person to person, typically through contaminated water. It can then attack the nervous system.
