Roxanne Rowland Reminded us about the "Ride Like A Girl" movie fund raiser for Ending Polio. Also for those that are attending can you please be a plate of either savoury or sweets to be shared. The High Tea for Hamilton is fast approaching on the 27th October. This was a great event last year and as with last yer there will be great entertainment, Guest Speaker and Raffles. Anyone who can help out with either setting up or preparing food please contact Roxanne. If your are unable to attend you can still make a donation. Tickets can be purchased from our Website with TRYBOOKING.
We were also reminded about the Combined Service Clubs meeting to be held on 16th October. There is no meeting at the Golf Club on the 15th.
Due to our scheduled speaker not being available at late notice, Robin LeGallez provided a quick intro and demonstration of the ClubRunner Phone App. In recent weeks a number of members had been enquiring as to "how do I access this thing" and this presented an opportunity to answer those questions.
The App is downloaded from either the Android PlayStore or the Apple App Store and is free. Username and password can be obtained from Robin if this is not known
One of the key benefits is in allowing quick contact between members via either phone, text or email and perhaps equally important is the ability to click on the "Events" tab and see what is happening in coming weeks. From the event, simply click on the date and full details will be revealed.
Recently a team of Year 9 students and two teachers from the Murray Bridge High School attended the Australian Information Industry Association National iAwards in Melbourne, where their technology app “Emergency Kid”, attracted a Merit Award in a highly contested competition.
Students, Thomas Tidy, Riley Lienert, Jalal Jammoul and Logan Baker, and teachers Lochlann Dwyer and Tiahne Wareing, were able to take part in this prestigious event through the sponsorship of local Rotary Clubs of Murray Bridge and Mobilong, of the Rural City of Murray Bridge, a local business Murray Computers, and Education Chief Executive Rick Persse.
This great outcome for the local community was achieved through the combined and eager support of local organisations working together.
My interpretation of this app is derived from the entry statement made by the students. The core idea is that the app on a phone or other electronic device, is a source of information to help young children deal with a medical emergency that has occurred, and also providing a quick link with emergency services. When fully developed, this app will be available for release on Android and Apple iOS platforms. Senator Marielle Smith congratulates the students. Story; Sam Cozens, photos supplied by MBHS.

World Mental Health Day is only 4 weeks away and that's when Australian Rotary Health will be celebrating Hat Day as part of its national Lift the Lid on Mental Illness fundraising campaign.
You can get involved with your friends, colleagues or Rotary Club this year by hosting a Hat Day on Thursday October 10 or anytime during Mental Health Month in October.
Your support will help the 1 in 5 Australians who suffer a mental illness every year. 100% of funds raised will go towards vital mental health research at universities across Australia.
