Its been a busy Rotary week for me.  Tuesday we heard a very interesting presentation by Mark Smith all about sharks.  It was so interesting and he only gave us the short version. Maybe we can invite him back for Sharks part 2.

We had a Board meeting after the dinner meeting on Tuesday.  Concern was expressed that members who are rostered on to welcome everyone at the door were not doing this for whatever reason.  As this is such an important duty the roster as well as being listed in our Bulletin, will be announced by myself at the end of our dinner meeting.

Board has agreed to some new pull up banners.  We will only be replacing the banner parts as the frames of old banners are still good. They will be for Youth Leadership and Interact.

Wednesday I attended a planning meeting for Gemma Sisia’s visit. Thursday I attended a meeting to discuss our Social Media profile. Friday I attended a G7 meeting via Teams where it was decided that the G7 would endorse promoting the new Cancer Research being done in SA.  This will now be taken to District.  The aim is to have this taken to Rotary International.

Thought for the week:

Life becomes automatically better if you can smile from within in any situation

Object of Rotary

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

  • FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
  • SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
  • THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;
  • FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
