I must congratulate Roxanne Rowland for her hard work with Fit For Purpose. It can be a bit confusing and hard to get your head around the proposed changes but, I do urge members to speak out it they have any questions or reservations.  Roxanne is open to members’ comments. We are a Club that runs well and most of these changes will allow us to tweak what we do already so our Club runs more smoothly and successfully. We do not have to throw out the old to make way for the new. Everything we are doing and planning is in accordance with our Strategic Plan for the next 3-5 years.

Roxanne, Sam and Liz Cozens and myself attended the funeral of Julieanne’s mum on Friday. It was a beautiful day, the service was simple as was the burial, and the light lunch afterwards reflected the generosity of the local Coonalpyn community. It was such a simple gesture on our part but Julianne’s comments to us made me realise how important our Rotary family is, especially when we can support our members physically and emotionally when they are going through a challenging time.

I am not going to talk politics and definitely not going to mention the Footy results from yesterday.

Thought for the week:  “The foundation upon which Rotary is built is friendship; on no less firm foundation could it have stood.”   Paul Harris.

Art Show Official Opening
Today at the Regional Gallery, The Art Show was officially opened followed by the announcement of prizes.
These will be available to view at www.murraybridgeartshow.com.au shortly.

Many of the artists attended along with members of the media who will ultimately report on the event. It was pleasing to see sponsors present who make our show viable.
If you have not yet visited, please make the effort to attend and also to volunteer.

Vision of Islands

Can you help restore sight to peoples in our neighbouring Pacific nations?
Vision of Islands is a non-profit volunteer eye surgical & clinical team who have been travelling to these areas since 1996 providing cataract removal for South Sea Islanders (or all ages) who would otherwise be blind. To date the team, led by ophthalmologist Dr John Willoughby OAM, has worked in Tonga and Tuvalu.
The Rotary Club of Murray Bridge seeks financial support to allow Dr Willoughby and his team to continue and extend this work.
Vision of Islands operates under the direction of the Ministry of Health of each participating country.  Their medical outreach team trains the local medical staff in patient care.  They provide medical and teaching equipment training local staff in their use, as well as extending specialist eye services to remote areas where people lack specialist services because of remoteness.
Dr Willoughby provides his surgical skills free of charge.  But there are huge ongoing overheads like travel costs, medical equipment, transport and mobile facilities to reach remote clinics.

Thank You Murray Bridge Rotary

The message below was received following our Club donation of $3500

G’day President Jenny and all at Murray Bridge Club

WOW!!  😊

I wanted to write to personally Thank You your Club for your recent generous donation!

FYI – this donation will indeed buy a full truck load of hay (32 bales) which equates to 19.2 Tonne – and that makes a MASSIVE difference, likely to 2 farmers and their livestock.

Keep an eye on our web page. We keep adding details of Trucks delivered plus some new photos here and there.

I have added your Club’s logo to our Web Page to officially recognise this amazing contribution.

Kind regards!
