Dear All at Rotary Club of Murray Bridge,

Greetings from The School of St Jude.

Our Standard 7 Graduation 2020 has been cancelled, due to the delay of the Standard 7 National Examination results.
In true 2020 style, there have been a few delays and uncertainties surrounding our Standard 7 Graduation. Please bear with us as we work to address these.
The Standard 7 National Examination results, initially expected to be announced by the government in early November, are still yet to be released.
Our Standard 7 students are required to obtain an overall ranking of A or B in the Standard 7 National Examinations to be eligible to sit the St Jude’s secondary entrance exam. The unforeseen delay in the release of their Standard 7 results means that we sadly have no choice except to postpone our St Jude’s secondary entrance exam and cancel the graduation.
Although this is sad news for our students, it has also given them the opportunity to study further, without the distraction of a big event. This will help them perform to the best of their ability, if they are eligible to sit for the St Jude’s secondary entrance exam. We hope that Anania and his peers will be able to celebrate their results at a later date, free from stress of the impending exams.
Regrettably, St Jude’s school calendar is full for the remainder of 2020. All students are still taking intensive catch-up lessons on Saturdays. Standard 4s, Form 4s and Form 6s are sitting their national examinations and regional mock exams. We are also preparing to invite external candidates to also sit the secondary entrance exam. Therefore, Standard 7 Graduation cannot be held before the end of the year… there are simply too few weekends!
All at Rotary Club of Murray Bridge, our academic teams are working hard to find a unique way that Standard 7 students and their families can still celebrate this amazing milestone, early next year.
If you have purchased a graduation gift for Anania, the Sponsor Relations team have decided to give him your gift now, to motivate him before the upcoming St Jude’s secondary entrance exam.
You will hear all about Anania’s national examination results as soon as they are released. Keep a look out for them!
As always, your support of Anania’s academic scholarship is deeply appreciated. Thank you.
Stay safe,

Dear All at Rotary Club of Murray Bridge,

Since our email last week, you’ve most likely been eagerly awaiting the results of the 2020 Standard 7 National Examinations – so here they are!

Anania has achieved an A in the Primary School Leaving Examination. This year every St Jude’s student scored a B average or above which is proof of their hard work, the dedication of their teachers and the support they received from their family and you.

These results rank St Jude’s primary school as 122nd in Tanzania and 15th in the Arusha area. This means that we are in the top 1% of primary schools in the country.

As the sponsor of a primary scholarship for one of our Standard 7 students you will be aware that completing Standard 7 with an A or B result is an important milestone for Anania as only 1 in 4 school-aged children in Tanzania progresses to secondary education. This would not have been possible without Anania’s hard work, the encouragement of his family and critically, your generous support for his education at The School of St Jude.

Now that the national examination results are out, our current Standard 7 students will sit the St Jude’s Secondary School Entrance Exam. We are wishing them well and urging them to do their best as they join the top performing students from government schools in competing for a highly coveted place at our secondary school.

In Tanzania there are over 16,500 primary schools and, for secondary education, over 4,500 ordinary-level schools (Forms 1 – 4), but only 540 advanced-level schools (Forms 5 – 6). Proceeding onto secondary school is a highly competitive process favouring the students with the greatest potential to utilise this privileged opportunity.
All at Rotary Club of Murray Bridge, thank you so much for your support of Anania’s primary scholarship; it is due to your incredible generosity that we are able to continue fighting poverty through education and educating the future leaders of Tanzania!

Best wishes,

End Polio Now

Since 1988, more than a million Rotarians have volunteered their time and resources to end polio. But eradicating polio is a complex job, and
Rotary International
can’t do it on its own. Meet our partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) provide technical support, investigate outbreaks, manage vaccine distribution, and more: endpol.io/wpm

AUSSIE BREAD TAGS FOR WHEELCHAIRS

We have it from a reliable source that we currently collect 5% of bread tags in Australia, so for every bread tag we collect, there are twenty out there waiting for us - now that's a challenge!
And we now have 397 collection points, so there is probably one near you, ..... or you could host one and help us get to 400!
So get your family, school, child care centre, retirement village, church, community centre, bakery, cafe, or fast food joint collecting, and find a collection point on our map, or post your tags to us. It's all on our website : https://ozbreadtagsforwheelchairs.org.au/
