What an amazing guest speaker from last week – speaker former librarian, Carolyn Spooner has an outstanding topic – the life of South Australian Sir George Hubert Wilkins, Australia famous explorer. It was excellent to see so many extra guests from other clubs and community in attendance.
Our Board members met before the dinner gathering to conduct the final meeting for the year. The Bridgeport was gracious in letting us use their Board room for the meeting. The success of the meeting was outstanding and the board has agreed to conduct its meetings at this time into the new Rotary year – ensuring Board members do not need to travel the long distances to the Hills and City in often unfavourable weather late at night. A small change that will ease pressures on members.
Those Rotarians and partners who attended the Murray Bridge High School Winter Sounds presentations on Wednesday were able to witness the range of musical talent in our community. Opportunity to see some great talent that could be future entrants for the up-coming Music Bursary. Special thanks to Jim and his team who kept the parents, family and community members fed with a great range of food options, prepared and served in trying wet weather. Another great community partnership
The current Rotary year is almost over and a Handover is less than a week away. President-elect Simon and his team have this all under control and it looks like a great evening to celebrate the changing of the Guard along with all the great service from the last 12 months
This week our speaker is Samarra O’Toole from The Station – to share the news of what is happening at The Station
As my year as Club President comes to an end, I have reflected on the people, projects, successes, setbacks and what I have discovered about Leadership, Service and Rotary along the way. The finish line may be in sight, but the journey is far from over
