We have another new member in the wings. A promulgation sheet for George McKenzie was passed around on Tuesday. Remember if any members have any comments please send them to Julianne by September 24th.

There was a lot of business discussed by the Committees on Tuesday especially by the Community Committee. Jim you have some very enthusiastic members. The Locals walking for locals sounds very exciting. One question - can we bring our dogs along? (Our two dogs would just love it!)

I was interviewed by Kaitlyn Gibbons from the Standard on Friday.  She is writing an article about me as the new President of our Rotary Club. I wasn’t given a chance to name specific projects our Club is involved in but will email some information to Kaitlyn. Not sure when the article will appear but keep an eye out for it.

Exciting news Caitlin will have her baby induced on Monday if it doesn’t make an appearance before.  Sam was busy fitting the skirting boards when I visited on Thursday, hopefully the noisy part of the house renovations will be finished. Caitlin was her usual talkative self and looking very well if a bit uncomfortable.

And I do have to congratulate Power on their amazing win Thursday night.  A bit of a nail-biter but we are through to the Preliminary finals where we play Sydney.
Another to smile about this week!!

Scam Awareness!

It is scam awareness week!
We recently had a presentation from Sergeant David Brown regarding cyber crime and safety.
He explained that $2.74 billion was taken from Australians due to these common scams:
- investments
- remote access
- romance
- phishing
- payment redirection
If you would like more information, the Murray Bridge Crime Prevention Section will be hosting ‘coffee with a cop’ at the Murray Bridge marketplace on Tuesday 3 September between 10.30am and 11.30am for a free coffee and a chat with a cop.
Otherwise more information can be found at https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/

Object of Rotary

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

  • FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
  • SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
  • THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;
  • FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
