Zoom Meetings to Replace Regular Meetings
 
 

ROTARY RETURNS THIS WEEK!

As indicated in the email distributed on Friday, meetings are set to resume this coming Tuesday at the new time of 7pm.
 
There is no need to leave the comfort of your home, but you can enjoy seeing your Rotary friends via your computer.
We realise this may be something that may daunt some whilst others may have been comunicating electronically for years.
The system we are using is called Zoom and it is very easy to use.
 
All computers (Apple & Windows) along with all smart phones and tablets work with Zoom. From my own experience, I find it easiest when using my laptop computer as it has a built in microphone and camera. If you are using a desktop computer, you will require a microphone & camera connected if you wish to participate otherwise you can just look & listen provided you have speakers attached. Handheld devices are great for one on one meetings but are more difficult for longer meetings.
It will be best if you have some light falling on the front of you, no bright lights behind and your TV or radio is turned off as all background noise with be broadcast.
 
 
Simply click on the link and you will be taken to the meeting. A new link will be provided for each meeting. If you have not yet downloaded the Zoom Client program, the link will help you install the program.
Those with handheld devices from Apple or Android should visit their appropriate App Store and search for Zoom Cloud Meetings and then install the app. This is best done now as you may need your Apple ID or Google account details to download.
 
These are free programs and there is no need to sign in, sign up or do anything other than click the link in blue below. You DO NOT need a Zoom account to join a meeting.
You can click the link below at any time to test if you are ready. If you have successfully installed the Zoom app or client you will see a message similar to the one below once you click on "Open Zoom Meeting".
 
This is an exciting new era and should you have any concerns or queries, please call me and I will endeavour to help you.
 
The meeting is booked, our speakers are ready so all we need is your participation.

Figure This Out

Maynard's grandfather clock is driven by two weights, one for the striking mechanism which strikes the hours only, the other for the time mechanism.
When he hears the clock strike his bedtime, he immediately winds the clock and retires.
After winding, the weights are exactly opposite each other; the weights are again exactly opposite each other every six hours thereafter
What is Maynard's bed time?

"Well," said Mary, "the sum of their ages is equal to the number of the house next door and their product is 36.
*Is that all I need to know to work out their ages?” asked Bill.
"No," replied Mary who knew that Bill could very readily find out the number of the house next door, "You need to know that the eldest plays the piano."
What are the ages of the children and what is the number of the house next door? (assume that the ages are whole numbers).

Whilst we are not meeting as a group, we can still be a valuable part of the community.
