Meeting Report 3300

Well what a meeting we had, not only was it our 3300 but it was also the GSE dinner.
The Golf Club never looked so good and the table decorations where beautiful, well done to all involved.
The meeting started off with introducing our GSE guest from Missouri District 6040 , Melissa Koch (team leader), Lisa Deatheridge, Ashley Starrett, Cutter Gale and Susan McCambridge.
It was also great to see Mayor Brenton Lewis and his wife Cathy along with visiting club presidents :- President Tracey Piltz from Tailem Bend, President Shiralee Judge from Mt Barker, President John Rowley from Blakiston, President Stephen Rohrlach from Onkaparinga, President Greg Russell from Sterling and of course President David Altmann from Murray Bridge.
Acting Governor for District 9520 Darryl Webb gave a short speech out the program before introducing each of guest. It was very interesting to hear not only where each of our guests live in District 6040 but also their journey with Rotary.
Margret Whitehead gave a brief speech about the founding of the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge and how her father Jack Whitehead was one of the 24 founding members. The club started in 1954 and was sponsored by The Rotary Club of Unley. We have since sponsored The Mobilong Rotary Club, Tailem Bend Rotary Club and The Lameroo Rotary Club with both Mobilong and Tailem Bend being very active clubs. Margret also went on to mention that many of our great annual fund raising events have been going well or some year, The Art Show is in it's 30th year, Going Bush (taking young students camping in the bush) was in it's 17th year, the Pictorial Calendar is also in it's 17th year.
Kevin Prosser was next to give a brief speech about his involvement in the club starting when he was 16 years old and when he was chair of a public meeting held in the Town Hall. Kevin mentioned how fund raising had changed from when the club would grow and sell hay on vacant blocks around Murray Bridge or when the built a house which could never be done today with all the codes and bylaws. Amazing enough the house is still standing. It was also mentioned how a couple of our members lost tips of their fingers when the club decided to grow and onion crop and these said finger tips where lost while using the top and tailing machine. Kevin also mentioned an outback adventure where the carefully calculated port wine supplies for the entire trip was drunk on the first night due to cold weather.
It was also Bruce and Ruth's 70th Wedding Anniversary and this year also being Bruce's 55th year in Rotary. Well done and congratulations to the both.
In summing up it was a great, informative night and one I was pleased to be apart of.

YOU'RE INVITED

Magdalina Graduation

Dear All at Rotary Club of Murray Bridge

We are just months away from Magdalina’s Form 6 graduation from The School of St Jude and the completion of her Secondary academic scholarship.

The Form 6 Graduation will be happening on Saturday of 25th May 2019 at our secondary school Usa River campus just outside Arusha.

With less than 2% of students in Tanzania completing their secondary education, we invite you to join us in recognising this incredible achievement and what it symbolises for both Magdalina and her family.

At present, our Form 6 students are getting ready for their coming final examinations; a challenge that Magdalina has been able to embrace because of your generosity and dedication towards her education.

If you’d like to wish Magdalina congratulation, please feel free to reply to this email before Monday 20th May and we will pass on your congratulations and best wishes.

If you are joining us for the graduation event, we look forward to welcoming you to St Jude’s in May.

Even when our Form 6 students have been very busy preparing for the National Examinations, we made sure to capture a few final shots of them in their St Jude’s uniform. Attached is a photo of Magdalina in the final days as a secondary student at St Jude’s.

Best wishes,
Grace
