Gidday, we’re working our way back home currently in Alice Springs & heading out to Kings Canyon for a few days. Fridays drive was quite interesting we went from 30 degrees down to 15 degrees & back into warm clothes, we are looking forward to sharing our experiences with everyone on our return.
Tuesday 18th August meeting, vocational visit to Carpet Court Adelaide Rd. Murray Bridge. Thank you for the organisers, Jack & Jenny P, great support from our Rotarians, Partners & Guests, with Carpet Court sharing their story and creating connections toward partnerships within the Murray Bridge community. The food looked amazing, supplied, and delivered “a big thank you“ Josh’s IGA Murray Bridge West (John and Vicki) from just down the road.
This week I received a story to share which relates to the Callington Primary School, with support toward our Rotary Club of Murray Bridge and the Rotary Pioneer Adventure Day.
Thank you, Sarah Elliot, from Callington Primary School for the communication you have provided us
“Rotary Club project:
Over the last 3 years, our school (Callington Primary) has been generously supported by the Murray Bridge Rotary Club in various ways including, an annual outdoor camp for 2 of our senior students, an end of year fun day at Semaphore Beach with snacks and carousel rides and this year they are helping to erect a “Peace Pole” to welcome families as they enter our school. They are a very active service club and are doing amazing work supporting local and international schools, dementia patients with music enrichment and local farmers with basic living support as they navigate the recent years of drought and the current living crisis. This year in our effort to live our values of Care, Courage and Connection, we thought that, as a small contribution, and to give rather than receive, we donated all gold coin proceeds from our recent colour dress up day to the Rotary Club’s local farmers program. From your contributions, we were able to donate $90 and they were very appreciative that we thought of them.”
This story really made my day & shows why we as Rotarians work with communities through service above self, once again thank you Sarah & Principal Suyin along with Callington Primary School for your ongoing support to Rotary.
Behind the Scenes: Jenny A-W has been working on this years Murray Bridge High School Music Bursary, speaking with Choo-Lee the awardees will be interviewed mid-September with the presentation to be delivered early in Term 4.
