Welch Allyn Vital Signs Monitor. The final part of the District Grant Process has now been completed with the presentation of the monitor to Sharon Harrison Director of Nursing and Midwifery at the Murray Bridge Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. Staff at our local hospital will make good use of this machine while looking after the welfare of patients. This is a portable electronic device which is connected to a patient and within a minute has accurately measured and recorded a set of vital signs which reflect the clinical health of the patient. Patient blood pressure, temperature, respiration rate, hypertension diagnosis, and oxygen saturation are vital signs which the machine measures. The machine does have capability to send this information by Wi-Fi to medical records however this link is not currently used in the hospital. A specific recording function is that when the data is manually entered on a scale within the patient record sheet, any significant variation of what is considered medically normal, triggers an alarm for follow up. We all share a thankyou from Sharon on behalf of the Hospital Staff. Story and photo by Sam Cozens. |
