Committee meetings last Tuesday went well. It was good to see our Rotarians planning toward making a difference through “Service above Self”.

Just a reminder we do not have our usual meeting Tuesday evening as it will be Wednesday 21st October at the Combined Service Clubs Changeover Dinner, “6:00pm for a 6:30pm start”.

Robin has added some tales from the Rotary Getaway:

Jim Cundy and his crew had a busy day Sunday 18th October; The River Murray Boat Owners Association (RMBOA) celebrated their Golden Jubilee on Sunday the 18th of October.

The Rotary Club of Murray Bridge were there to help them celebrate with a BBQ lunch following the Sail past, thank you for your great support Rotarians Kevin Dalton, Sandy Dalton, Penny Heighes, Julieanne Sissman, Jack Reddin and Jim Cundy, who were kept very busy cooking and serving delicious hamburgers to the hungry boaties.

Pioneer Adventure Day: Sunday 2nd May 2027

This weekend,  a group of 22 Rotarians and partners travelled to Mt Compass for a social weekend. Some arrived as early as Wednesday and leaving on Monday with most arriving Friday and departing Sunday.

There was no formal structure with all self catering as required.  However, Friday night was Pizza night with an order being placed at the Jerichos Takeaway in Mt Compass and despite one minor mix up, the food was excellent.

Saturday was another great weather day with several members visiting the Willunga markets. Lunch had been pre organised at the Mt Compass Golf Club's Range Restaurant. Host Jenny looked after us all and I can recommend this venue as a great food destination were you can look out over the magnificent course whilst dining.

Time for an afternoon nap before again gathering in the park's “sound shell” for a musical interlude and mind testing quiz. Thanks to our Harmony Trio of Sam, Marg and Gordon for their contribution and again to Gordon for his always entertaining quiz.  Andrew Heard contributed a new dimension to the quiz with questions like “How many Territories are part of Australia”. DON'T GOOGLE IT but ask one of the attendees. Well done to all who contributed. One of our group travelled to Aldinga to watch the sunset from the beach.

Following Sunday morning worship, Pancakes were prepared on the park's BBQ and shared with all who wished. Thanks to Bronwyn and Roxanne who contributed to the breakfast. Sadly for some, the weekend had come to a close and so we bid a number farewell with thoughts of doing it all again next year.

For those remaining, Sunday has brought a day of warmth, a chance to catch up on reading, write this report and apparently reassemble to evening refreshments!

Thanks to all who contributed in any way, including Drago. See more on the last image.

Meet Drago who joined us for Sunday evening drinks
