Our lovely Secretary Rtn. Julieanne is having a great, relaxing time touring around Western Australia, taking in all the beautiful sites WA has to offer and hopefully sampling some fantastic WA wines. Julieanne sent a couple of pictures through of the Rotary Lookout in Esperance, located high on a granite outcrop and offers expansive views of the surrounding coastal town and its magnificent beaches, along with the spectacular views of the remote islands of the Recherche Archipelago and the sweeping panorama of the town of Esperance.

Last Tuesdays speaker: Rachel Fanguna, Regional Coordinator at The Salvation Army Australia presented about the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme supported through the Salvation Army, Murray Bridge area has 10% of the total people managed through PALM. The scheme is an Australian Government program that allows eligible Australian businesses to hire workers from 9 Pacific island countries and Timor-Leste when local workers are unavailable, operating across rural and regional Australia, covering industries such as agriculture, select agriculture-related food product manufacturing, meat processing, and aged care.

The Salvation Army delivers the national Community Connections program under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme, supporting Pacific and Timor-Leste workers to build social connections, improve wellbeing and feel included in Australian communities. The program provides on-arrival orientation, community engagement activities, referrals to essential services and targeted emergency assistance for eligible workers experiencing hardship. Working with employers, churches, diaspora groups and local organisations across Australia, the program aims to reduce social isolation and strengthen workers' sense of belonging. It complements, rather than replaces, employers' responsibilities for workplace welfare and formal grievance management.

Wednesday, October 28, First Responders Mobile App. (National First Responders Day) BBQ hosted through Bunnings stores across South Australia (SA) and the Northern Territory (NT), launching a joint fundraising sausage sizzle supporting the development of the new Mobile app. Our Rotary Club of Murray Bridge along with Mobilong partnered with Bunnings making a difference within our community working toward a program to assist in reducing responder injuries and secondary incidents, safer emergency scenes, and better outcomes for the service people involved in animal related emergencies. It was great to see the local Murray Bridge SES along with SAPOL presence talking with the many people as they called into Bunnings, individual Rotary Clubs supported approximately 26 participating stores across South Australia and the Northern Territory. Making a special appearance was Bonnie one of the latest Lions Assistance Puppies enjoying the day and getting familiar with lots of humans.

This week’s speaker: Wendy Ziersch will share her story “My Cancer Journey” with attending Rotarians & Partners, along with the importance of regular checks capturing potential health problems early—often before any symptoms even appear making them much easier and more successful to treat. Please book in if you are wanting to attend.

🌟 TWO DAYS OF LEARNING, LEADERSHIP & INSPIRATION🌟

Over two days at the People Planet Peace Rotary South Pacific Zone 8 Conference in Melbourne, District Governors, District Governors-Elect (DGEs) and District Governors-Nominee (DGNs) and other Rotarians from across the South Pacific region came together for valuable training, leadership development and meaningful connections.
A special highlight was the wonderful opportunity to meet Rotary International incoming President Larry Lunsford — an inspiring experience and a reminder of the global fellowship that unites us. 🌍

Rotary leadership, growing, inspiring the next set of District leaders and creating lasting impact.
