The Combined Services Dinner was well attended by the many service organisations from Murray Bridge, and we were impressed by the overall impact and quality of the services these clubs provide to our local community. all of the clubs are to be highly commended.
Our Club was well represented by Ron, and Sabine Jericho, Gordon and Merilyn Schultz, Phil Rosewell, John Whimpress, Lesley Murray, Jack and Jill Reddin, Rob and Jan Smyth, Darryl Webb, Roxanne and Wayne Rowland , Jim Cundy, Brenton Lewis, and Sam and Elizabeth Cozens.
One of the highlights of the evening was Jim Cundy spruiking the new calendar. Well done Jim.
Guess Who's Coming to Lunch
Today 40 members and partners attended the Guess Who's Coming to lunch and assuming all attendees have now paid, we cleared $875 including one donation.
The day seems to have been a resounding success with amazingly diverse conversations and insights being shared around the table.
Let's hope there are more of this style of function to come.
I understand some hosts went to extordinary lengths to create a different environment.
Sue Foster reportedly had the power disconnected to display her versatility around the BBQ.
Many thanks to those who hosted lunch today. Rob & Jan Smyth, Jim & Vicki Mason, Lesley & Steve Murray, Sue Foster & Robin & Rhonda LeGallez.

I Awards, Looks Like An App
Recently a team of Year 9 students and two teachers from the Murray Bridge High School attended the Australian Information Industry Association National iAwards in Melbourne, where their technology app “Emergency Kid”, attracted a Merit Award in a highly contested competition.
Students, Thomas Tidy, Riley Lienert, Jalal Jammoul and Logan Baker, and teachers Lochlann Dwyer and Tiahne Wareing, were able to take part in this prestigious event through the sponsorship of local Rotary Clubs of Murray Bridge and Mobilong, of the Rural City of Murray Bridge, a local business Murray Computers, and Education Chief Executive Rick Persse.
This great outcome for the local community was achieved through the combined and eager support of local organisations working together.
My interpretation of this app is derived from the entry statement made by the students. The core idea is that the app on a phone or other electronic device, is a source of information to help young children deal with a medical emergency that has occurred, and also providing a quick link with emergency services. When fully developed, this app will be available for release on Android and Apple iOS platforms. Senator Marielle Smith congratulates the students. Story; Sam Cozens, photos supplied by MBHS.
World Mental Health Day is only 4 weeks away and that's when Australian Rotary Health will be celebrating Hat Day as part of its national Lift the Lid on Mental Illness fundraising campaign.
You can get involved with your friends, colleagues or Rotary Club this year by hosting a Hat Day on Thursday October 10 or anytime during Mental Health Month in October.
Your support will help the 1 in 5 Australians who suffer a mental illness every year. 100% of funds raised will go towards vital mental health research at universities across Australia.
