Last Tuesday we held the first Board meeting of the new Rotary Year and we look forward to hearing of all the upcoming plans for the next 6 months at the Club Assembly Board meeting being held this Tuesday 22nd July. Immediate Past President Jenny enjoyed an artistic experience with Phillippa from Sticky Pixels last Wednesday evening. The small class size enabled lots of tuition and the age range from school children to adults ensured there was lots of variety in the art being created. Catch up with Jenny if you want to hear more and consider joining her at the next class. I hear she has already booked a place in the next class. We don’t always know how Rotarians spend their spare time - Community Director Jim amazed us all at the last Board meeting when he showed us his latest hobby. We knew of his whittling wood and the vast array of models he has created over time - but he has now added quilting to his list of hobbies - and an award-winning quilt at that - such a beautiful piece of work and the envy of many of us who enjoy time at the sewing machine. Congratulations Jim on creating such a beautiful piece of work. Do you know of a Rotarian with a special hobby/interest? Let’s share the talents of our members. Sunday saw a somewhat smaller team at Bunnings for the first of our BBQs this Rotary year. While it was a very successful event, it is important for members to let the Coordinator of these events know when you cannot meet your commitment to attend after signing green sheets as this is the only document that Directors have to ensure they can successfully staff the event. We have a couple of community events coming up where members are being asked to assist with catering. The next Bremer Valley Popup Tearooms takes place on Saturday 16th August. If you want to help out at the event, make sure you see Roxanne and if you want to make or bake items for the Trading Table, also see me so we can get containers and correctly labelled items for the event. Director Sue and her International team are very busy asking members to share the invitation to attend the upcoming High Tea event for the Hamlin Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia on Sunday 17th August. If each member can invite 2 more participants to attend, we can be assured of a successful event. Members and their partners who wish to make, bake or supply foods for the event, please see Sue at a weekly meeting or ring (0439 853 227) and let her know what you are willing to supply. And Remember…. Life is a long journey between human being and being human - let’s take at least one step each day to cover this distance. Service Above Self. President Roxanne |
