Rotary Meeting 3379 Time: Oct 20, 2020 06:00 PM Adelaide
Adam Cundy from Moixa Energy was the guest of the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge direct from London where he works as a Project Manager. In a part virtual meeting at the Murray Bridge Golf Club. Murray Bridge Rotarian introduced his son as a graduate Mechical Engineer from the University of Adelaide with work experience as an industrial refrigeration specialist, with current interests in energy optimization, smart software, and renewable energy. Adam explained the difficulties in matching energy generation and consumption and the impacts on the environment in a very entertaining and interesting meeting. We covered, solar panels, batteries, power plants, electric vehicles, smart meters and grid services. Binding domestic power producers together with biodirectional charging and a wider adoption of more aggressive TOUTS (time of use tariffs) will be an important strategy of the future. Japan has 20,000 homes in a hub arrangement with the capacity of 150 MW storage by binding them together thus eliminating the need for multiple storage batteries. Londoners are now subjected to tariffs for driving vehicles other than electric vehicles through the city of London to reduce pollution. Moixa is the UK's leading smart battery company. They develop Smart Battery hardware and GridShare software to facilitate smart energy storage and sharing.
Murraylands Multicultural Network
The Murraylands Multicultural Network had its AGM at the Australian Migrant Resource Centre in Second St Murray Bridge last night. Covid restricted the attendance. Chairman John Scarvelis outlined the activities seperated into pre Covid and during Covid. He also focused on the value of volunteers and the professionalism of AMRC staff in Murray Bridge and Adelaide. Highlights were the Murray Bridge migrant contributions to the Living and Working in Regional SA study, Waitangi Day at Sturt Reserve, the Chinese Consul visit to the Rural City of Murray Bridge, World Refugee Day video release by the Governor His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le, and the Sister Act series of activities focusing on new business enterprises and pathways to employment. Mayor Brenton Lewis and his Council staff have been extremely supportive in our activities. Partners and businesses have also been supportive whilst the community has shown great resilience during this trying period.
