I hope you all enjoyed the District Governors talk last week with him presenting us with some challenges and I hope we can engage with them.
A few reminders to keep in mind, the Loins skin cancer screening (Editors Note - I assume this is a misspelling as hopefully they check more than your loins!) on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th August. Bookings with Hylton Moritz 0408 803 723 are essential, screening maybe lifesaving.
Australian Girls Choir billets are still required, call Helen Peake if you can help.
Sam has been busy getting out our membership fees keep an eye out them.
So that’s about it, hope to see you Tuesday night
Yours in Rotary, Gordon.
Visit of District Governor, Craig Dowling
Last Tuesday's meeting we were visited by our District Governoe, Craig Dowling, Also in attendance was our Area Governor, Tim Klar.
Craig addressed our meeting and outlined a number of his priorities for the coming year and asked that we support the "Say No To Domestic Violence" campaign. This will be a focal point of our current Rotary year as will be the promotion of the Rotary Centenary project, "Aboriginal Chronic Disease Prevention Project". The project will provide two PHD scholarships for Aboriginal scholars. Successful candidates will work within Aboriginal communities to develop culturally appropriate models for improving health outcomes.
Craig reminded us about the 2024 District Conference being held in Loxton and the need to register and secure accomodation.
An important part of Craigs address was the ability of members to ask questions across the spectrum of Rotary.
Calendar Reveal
This week the 2024 calendar images will be revealed at our Club meeting by Jacquie.

Successful Golf Tournament

Recently Australian Rotary Health Director John Campbell attended the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge Changeover. In April the Club held a very successful Golf Tournament with Australian Rotary Health's 'Lift the Lid' on Mental Illness as the beneficiary. John played with members from Rotary Club Of Goolwa. We thank the club for their generosity and presenting a cheque for $4,500 to our Director John Campbell.
Mongolia Container Progress
Jack Reddin has provided the information below in relation to progress of our container.
From my interpretation (and total lack of cyrilic alphabet understanding), it appears the container is currently in Xingang and due to depart on 10th August and should arrive in Ulaanbaatar on 22nd August
Do you know someone who may wish to serve in this capacity?
If so, please ask for more information.

Unlocking the Power of the Rotary Leadership Institute (Craig Howlett) - recording
Members who leave Rotary clubs often do so because they no longer see value in their Rotary experience. What a shame!
Let's do something to change that NOW!
The Rotary Leadership Institute is a facilitated learning program that lets members know what's in Rotary for them and how to utilise the power of the worldwide Rotary network to do good in the world. Just by enabling member attendance at RLI, you can improve your club member retention rate and unlock more active participation.
Watch this short story by new Rotarian Craig Howlett about his RLI experience - including the opening remarks - if you want to understand the benefits RLI can bring to members.
