Housing Victims of Domestic Violence and Crisis Accommodation was the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge project for discussion at Tuesdays Dinner Meeting with Val Braendler from DAVINA. This stands for Domestic Violence is Never Acceptable. Rotary has been supporting this project with Care Bags for about 4 years. Val is concerned that there is not enough accommodation available in Murray Bridge and is asking for support from the private housing sector with an overarching system of regulation. The accommodation provides time for the family to stabilize and deal with the issues. They also need to be close to their support networks.

Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge had a vocational visit to the new Murray River Study Hub on Tuesday afternoon at 4pm in Murray Bridge at the TAFE site. This has been in the making for about 15 years and is finally coming to fruition where students can enrol in University Courses and work on line. Rotarians in Cambodia
Relaxing this week-end after busy 10 days of teaching English and visiting Rotary projects in Cambodia. Beautiful Thank You ceremony at the school and the school supplies we donated. Elderly music teacher overwhelmed with new drumsticks and speaker. Amazing markets and food. Sunrise over Angkor Wat this morning. Temples are so beautiful and peaceful ...until the bus loads of tourists arrive.
We visited a poor area around Kork Chork Pagoda today. Very thankful to Chheang Sopheak along with the village ‘chief’ who is a wise and respected woman, for their advice on which families would most benefit from having a Water well or Sand filter. We met a family that had recently lost a child in a road accident on her way to school. Another where the mother has been burnt severely with boiling water thrown by her husband. Heartbreaking stories.
