Another Busy week has come and gone and as a club, we have achieved so much:-

  • Tuesday October 7th - Directors and Committee meetings at this week's Rotary meeting - this always amazes me as we discuss a range of options in our respective committees and by the end of the meeting - there are so many opportunities - on-going and new - that members have agreed to undertake in the coming month
  • Thursday October 9th - Community Committee were at the shed organising the Blister Packs to fit into the bale before it gets sent away. This is the last of the Rural City Sponsored bags and after this one, we need to look at options for a more local (in SA at least) organisation that can take the Blister Packs - Jim and his team are onto the investigations and they may have a solution - watch this space
  • Saturday October 11th - Rotary Says NO to Domestic and Family Violence ‘Walk For Respect’ - another successful march held in Adelaide - the 3rd year - bringing community, community groups and Rotarians across District 9510 to stand against domestic and family violence. Channel 7 had an excellent coverage of the event (You can catch the story here - https://x.com/7newsadelaided/status/1976925295476457810?s=12&t=4Xqdh4YjYj9liMiBwjqGg A big thank you to Sally who organised our local club attendees - Together, we are raising awareness and walking towards a safer community for all.
  • Saturday October 11th - Bremer Valley Art Trail Pop-Up Tearooms at Callington Memorial Hall - As October is  Rotary’s Economic & Community Development month - the month when Rotary drives opportunity and growth, focussing on local economic growth and improving the quality of life in our communities by supporting entrepreneurs, we invited a young entrepreneur - Mila from Mypolonga to bring her Mila’s Mulberry Business to the Trading Table - Mila and her siblings pick, sort and pack the berries as the crop ripens and sell locally to those who request pick up from Mypolonga, or delivery to Murray Bridge. It was a great success with all her Mulberries sold. Simon and Lyn were also able to outline Rotary Youth opportunities that may interest her in the future. The remainder of the day was quiet trading for both the Devonshire Teas and the Trading Table - rather disappointing as we had some new hel;pers. We are committed to undertaking the December 13 Tearooms, (with a Christmas Theme) after which we will seek members feedback as to continuing into 2026
  • Sunday October 12th - Long Lunch - what a great Sunday afternoon - lunch with the Rotary Family and friends at the Monteith Hall. Special thanks to John for all his organisation - the steaks and chicken was beautifully cooked by Kevin and Rob on the BBQ, Jacquie and Marg had the roast vegetables cooked to perfection in that enormous oven, the salads made and with the help of Indy and Will, the table was set with flowers, bread rolls and butter, and carafes of water. Thanks to the Callington Tearooms team (Sandy, Lyn, Julieanne) for preparing the apples for the Apple Crumble dessert, and second serves were available for both courses. It was great to sit back, chat with friends and enjoy the company of others
  • Sunday October 12th - Australian Rotary Health Movie Event  - The Travellers - Congratulations to Simon, Lyn, Julieanne and any others attended the movie fundraiser today at the Regal Theatre - we hope you enjoyed the Movie - it’s still on my to see list

Some super exciting NEWS - our club has been successful in gaining a District Grant for the Assembly of 1000 Birthing Kits - Sue and members of the International Committee will be hard at work over the coming weeks - and into January 2026 - The proposed dates for your diaries are - Tuesday 13th January as part of our weekly meeting  and then Saturday 17th January when we hope to have a Community Assembly Day
